Children from frontline areas
Constant shelling, unstable daily life, chronic anxiety — this is the backdrop these children live in for months.
Together with the NGO “Institute of Trauma Healing”
A partner project with the NGO “Institute of Trauma Healing.” 42 camps, 2493 participants in 2022–2025. We are raising funds for new camp sessions for children from frontline areas, widows, and families of prisoners.
A partner project with the NGO “Institute of Trauma Healing.” At YourHelp, we fund the camp infrastructure (meals, accommodation, program, platform), while certified specialists from the Institute provide psychosocial support for families.
Who this is for. Children from frontline areas. Children who have lost one or both parents. Children from internally displaced families. Widows and children of fallen Defenders of Ukraine. Families of prisoners of war and those missing in action.
What happens at the camps. 5–10 days of psychoeducation and group support, art therapy and creative workshops, individual sessions with psychologists, body-oriented practices, exercise, Pilates, massage, safe rest in nature, excursions, and wellness activities. We work holistically — emotionally, physically, spiritually.
The Institute of Trauma Healing in numbers. In 2022–2025 — 42 Recovery camps, 2493 participants. Over the full period of 2014–2025 — 64 camps and rehabilitation programs, more than 5617 participants.
How we work together. The Institute of Trauma Healing is a project of the Ukrainian Bible Society. The Western branch is led by Yana Reznikova, who coordinates psychosocial support programs for families affected by the war. YourHelp provides the material and logistical part, while ITH provides the therapeutic part.
Five categories where the need for Recovery is most urgent. Children, widows, mothers of fallen service members, families of those missing in action, and prisoners of war are especially vulnerable.
Constant shelling, unstable daily life, chronic anxiety — this is the backdrop these children live in for months.
Acute loss + the absence of an adult who can help them through grief. ITH programs provide that adult presence for 5–10 days.
A new school, a new environment, a lost home — the stress of adaptation is layered on top of the trauma of war.
A space where they can cry, speak about pain, and feel support from others who have been through the same.
The most difficult kind of grief — uncertainty. Support for the long-term stress of waiting and for the family’s resilience.
We work at the same time with the emotional, physical, and spiritual. Every activity is part of the protocol, not a random choice.
Participants understand what is happening to them and see that others are going through it too. The loss of isolation is the first step toward Recovery.
Drawing, sculpting, and collage speak where words have not yet found themselves. This is especially important for children who have experienced loss.
1-on-1 work with a certified ITH specialist — for those who need a deeper and confidential conversation.
Trauma "settles" in the body. We work with it through breathing techniques, gentle movement, and reconnecting with the bodily feeling of safety.
Regular gentle movement and touch restore the connection with the body that is lost under stress.
Nature is a neutral setting without triggers. The forest, mountains, and river bring back the feeling of being in a place where nothing threatens you.
All camps are based on the IZT’s own work — not borrowed templates, but methodologies created for the Ukrainian context.
A core methodology for adult participants — working with PTSD, loss, and exhaustion.
A program for children and teens — restoring the ability to imagine the future and set goals.
Working with the family as a unit — parents and children together, restoring connection and trust.
A support community for widows of fallen Defenders — peer support groups.
For many, this is the first safe space in a long time where they can cry, talk about pain, and simply be themselves.
Project. Ukrainian Bible Society with many years of experience in mental health and psychosocial support for people affected by the war.
In 2014–2025 the organization implemented 64 camps and rehabilitation programs for more than 5,617 participants.

Every hryvnia means new sessions in new schools. Every volunteer means more children who will hear an adult.
